Employee Policies

Time Clock

Associates should use the time clock to record their time entries. When using the time clock, you must indicate if you are clocking in or clocking out, so time is recorded properly. Associates must use Meal Start and Meal End when clocking for the unpaid meal break.

Attendance

Attendance Policy

Scotts Miracle-Gro expects all contingent workers to maintain regular and timely attendance to support team morale and productivity. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Scheduled Time Off: Must be approved in advance by site leadership. No penalty.
  • Unscheduled Time Off: Up to 4 days per season allowed without penalty. More than 4 days may lead to corrective action.
  • Bereavement Leave: Up to 5 unpaid days for immediate family; 3 unpaid days for extended family. Additional time may be approved for travel or extenuating circumstances.
  • Late Arrivals / Early Departures: If more than 2 hours outside the scheduled shift, it counts as a full absence.
  • No Call No Show: Failure to report absence before shift start = 2 occurrences. Two incidents = termination. One incident in the first 30 days = termination.
REquesting time off / Incase you are late or absent
Follow your site’s call-off process before your scheduled shift.

Corrective Action Steps:
  • Verbal (Written) Warning
  • Written Warning
  • Last Chance Agreement
  • End of Assignment

Occurrences reset each season. Scotts reserves the right to end assignments at any time.

Lunch / Other Policies

DO I have to clock in and out for breaks and lunches?

Yes, only for your 30-minute unpaid meal break.

  • Repeated long lunches will result in disciplinary action.
  • Associates should be at their workstation, ready to work at the start of their shift (before shift, after break, after lunch, etc.)
  • Associates should be taking their full 30-minute lunch. In emergency situations only should associates skip their lunch and should notify their supervisor. This should not be a regular occurrence.

Locker Room Cleaning Schedule and Guidelines

Overview

Senior Leadership has worked with all shift supervisors and managers to schedule the most effective times for locker room cleaning across both plants. Cleaning times are clearly posted at the East and West Plant locker rooms.

During cleaning, Allegiance will place Do Not Enter / Closed for Cleaning barriers across the locker room entrances. These barriers mean the area is closed for cleaning.

Associates must never remove, climb over, duck under, or otherwise enter a locker room when it is closed for cleaning. Please plan ahead if you need personal items during these times.

Associate Expectations

Help keep the locker rooms clean and safe by following these daily responsibilities:

  • Keep boots in lockers or on top of lockers
  • Pick up uniforms after use
  • Return hangers to the hanger rack
  • Do not leave dirty clothes on the floor
  • Place towels in the appropriate bins
  • Leave showers free of personal items
  • Do not move mats in the locker rooms

Any items left out of place will be collected and stored in a designated bin. Each week, unclaimed items in this bin will be disposed of.

Associate Responsibility Policy

Associates are required to follow the posted Cleaning Schedule Guidelines.
During cleaning times, locker rooms are closed and must not be entered.

  • If access is needed for an emergency, contact a member of leadership for assistance.
  • Entering a closed locker room for non-emergency reasons may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
